ついに家も決まり、いよいよ生活が始められそうな善田さん。
ですが、海外で長期間暮らすうえで絶対に欠かせないものが、まだありましたね・・・？！
今日のテーマは【IDカードの取得】
自分の国でも役所での手続きは大変ですよね。
海外で手続きをしないといけないとなるとさらにストレスフルですが、よく使われる単語や表現を押さえておけば、大抵の場合は問題なくスムーズに進みますよ！
今回はそんなシチュエーションでの例をみてみましょう。

I can’t believe I had to wait 3 months to get an appointment at Immigration…
Estevao:
Unfortunately, that’s pretty common.
There’s a lot of people who are applying for a Visa…
But actually, after Covid we can now do a lot of applications online!
Not this one though.
Yoshida:
I see…
Anyway, I think I have all the documents I need.
The company contract, my passport, my proof of residence, my bank balance…
Why do they need my bank balance?
Estevao:
I think it’s to check if you have “sufficient means of subsistence”.
That you have enough money to live comfortably here.
Yoshida:
That makes sense.
This was also the first time I had to get an extract of my criminal record.
Preparing everything was a bit of a hassle…
I hope it’s worth it!
Estevao:
It is!
In this ID you’ll have all your information. Your national ID number, your tax number, your medical patient number, everything! It’s very convenient.
Yoshida:
I didn’t know that. That does sound pretty convenient.
So how about my passport? Don’t I need it anymore?
Estevao:
In Europe you mostly won’t.
You’re in an EU country, so even when you board an airplane you only need to show your national ID from now on!
Yoshida:
Oh wow!
I feel like a citizen already! Ahaha.

移民局でのアポを取るのに三ヶ月掛かるなんて・・・
エステバン：
残念ながら、よくあることです・・・
ビザの申し込みをしたい人が多くて・・・
でも、実はコロナがあってから、今はいろんな申し込みがオンラインでできるようになったんですよ。
ビザの申し込みには当てはまりませんが・・・
善田さん：
なるほど・・・
ひとまず、必要な資料は全部あると思います。
雇用契約、パスポート、居住証明書、銀行の残高証明書・・・
なぜ銀行の残高証明書が必要なんですか？
エステバン：
「十分な生活手段」があるかどうかを確認するためだと思います。
つまり、ここで問題なく生活ができる十分な資金があるかどうか。
善田さん：
なるほど、一理ありますね。
無犯罪証明書を取得しないといけないのも今回が初めてでした。
全部揃えるのは意外と面倒でした・・・
大変な思いをした甲斐があるといいですが！
エステバン：
ありますよ！
このIDカードにご自身に関する情報が全て記載されています。この国でのID番号、納税者番号、患者番号、全部です！すごく便利ですよ。
善田さん：
知らなかったです。それは確かになかなか便利そうですね。
そうするとパスポートは？もう要らないですか？
エステバン：
ヨーロッパ内ならほとんどの場合必要ないですよ。
ここはEU加盟国なので、飛行機に乗るときもこの国のIDを見せるだけです！
善田さん：
おぉー！
すでに国の一員になった気分です！

John hasn’t answered our texts. Do you want me to call him?
ジョンは全然メールを返してくれないですね。電話してみましょうか？
― No, it’s not worth it. When he’s busy he never answers anyone.
― いや、無駄だよ。忙しい時はいつも誰にも返事してくれないんだ。
This company’s service is a bit more expensive than the previous one right?
今の会社のサービスは前の会社より少し高いですよね？
―Yes it is. But their quality is better and they are never late, so the upgrade was worth it!
― はい、そうですね。でも前の会社に比べて質は良いし、遅れることもないから、アップグレードをして正解だったと思います！

今日のTALKは勉強になりましたか？
公的な書類を取り扱うときは緊張しますよね。
ですが、そういった場で働く人は対応に慣れていますし、お願いすれば、問題なく手伝ってくれます。
大切なのは、しっかり準備していくこと、特殊な単語や処理の流れは予習していくことです。
大抵の場合、大変な思いをする甲斐がありますからね！
