前回、飛行機での移動を乗り越えた善田さん。
今日はどんな会話になるのか、さっそく見てみましょう！
今日のテーマは【入国後の手続きの準備】
旅行の際は、ビザや書類の準備の心配をする必要はありませんが、海外で暮らすことになる場合は、必要な身分証明用書類や居住許可を受け取るために必要なステップが沢山あります。それぞれの国によって要件は異なるので、事前によく調べて準備しましょう。いよいよ現地に着いた善田さんも、早速手続きが大変だったと漏らしているようです・・・
今回は、どんな国でも必要になりそうな単語を使った会話例を見てみましょう！

Yoshida:
So basically, I had to book an appointment 6 months in advance just to go get my resident card.
Miguel:
Wow I didn’t know Immigration was so busy.
Yoshida:
Yeah. And when I applied for the Working Visa I had to prepare loads of documents.
Miguel:
Like what?
Yoshida:
My working contract translated to English, my university degree translated to English, and even my bank account’s balance certificate!
Miguel:
Wow, that’s a lot of documents. Why do they need to check your bank accounts?
Yoshida:
I think it’s to make sure I have enough money saved up to live in the country comfortable…
Miguel:
That makes sense.
Yoshida:
Not only that, but the day after arriving I had to go to the Japanese embassy to declare that I had arrived to Portugal.
Miguel:
Why did you have to do that?
Yoshida:
I think they keep a record of all Japanese people living in Portugal.
If there is some Japan related event, news, or even if something bad happens, they know how to reach us.
Miguel:
I see. I didn’t know that. I guess many people don’t do that when they move abroad, but it’s important.
Yoshida:
For sure. When you first arrive to a new country you don’t know anyone, so having the embassy makes you feel better.

善田さん:
つまり、在留カードを貰うためだけに半年も前にアポをとらないといけなかったんだよ。
ミゲル:
わ、移民局がそんなに忙しいなんて知らなかったよ・・・
善田さん:
そう。それに、ワーキングビザの申請をしたときも、資料を大量に準備しないといけなかったし。
ミゲル:
たとえば？
善田さん:
英訳した雇用契約に、英訳した大学の修了証明書に、銀行の残高証明書まで！
ミゲル:
それはすごい量だね。なぜ銀行口座の残高証明の確認が必要なの？
善田さん:
ここにいる間に問題なく生活できるだけの貯金があるってことを確認するためだと思う。
ミゲル:
なるほどね。
善田さん:
それだけじゃなくて、到着後、ポルトガルに入国したことを日本大使館に報告しに行く必要もあったよ。
ミゲル:
それはなんでする必要があるんだろう？
善田さん:
ポルトガルに在住してる全ての日本人を記録しているんだと思う。
日本関連のイベントやニュースがあるときとか、或いはもし何かの良くないことがあったときとかにも連絡をとる方法が分かるからね
ミゲル:
なるほど、知らなかった。海外転勤してきても報告をしない人がいっぱいいると思うけど、大事なことだね。
善田さん:
本当そう。 初めての国に着いた時は知り合いもいないから、大使館があるっていうのは安心できるよね！

After the announcement we got loads of phone calls.
公表後、電話がいっぱい掛かってきました。

Oh, so there are a lot of sightseeing spots? Like what?
へえ、じゃあ観光スポットがいっぱいあるってこと？例えば？
There’s a lot to prepare? Like what? I think everything’s ready.
準備することがいっぱいある？たとえば？全部準備できていると思うよ。

I’m sorry I couldn’t reach Mr. Tanaka. Let’s wait a bit more.
すみません、田中さんと連絡が取れなかったです。もう少し待ちましょう。
