The Happiest Country in the World 2021
Last year’s World Happiness Report rankings have been announced.
The happiest country in the world is again Finland. Finland has been number one for five years in a row. Not only that, but all the top 3 countries are Nordic.
There are many categories that are used to measure the ranking: healthy life expectancy, GDP per capita, social support in hard times, low corruption, high social trust, generosity, and freedom to make key life decisions.
Japan is number 55 and Portugal number 57.
One very good news is that in the second year of the corona pandemic, all three categories of kindness have increased around 25%: Donating to charity, helping a stranger and volunteering.
This comes to show that in times of deep trouble and global stress, people find a way to help others in any way they can.
In recent years the world has been going through several changes which heavily affect the happiness of everyone around the world. I wonder what will next year’s ranking be.

昨年の世界幸福度ランキングが発表された。
もっとも幸福度が高い国となったのは、前年に引き続きフィンランドである。同国は、５年連続で１位に選ばれている。さらに、トップ３を北欧の国が占めている。
